Getting to and Around Budapest Airport Just Got a Lot Easier This Summer

Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport is heading into the 2026 summer travel season with some exciting upgrades that make arriving, departing, and everything in between noticeably smoother. Whether you’re driving, hopping on a bus, or hailing a ride, the airport has expanded its options to match the growing number of travelers passing through Hungary’s busiest hub. Here’s everything you need to know before you fly.
A Brand-New Parking Lot — Without the Eye-Watering Price Tag
If you’ve ever hesitated to drive to the airport because parking fees felt like a second plane ticket, the new Relax Parking lot is great news. It opened on June 1, 2026, and adds around 2,000 fresh parking spaces designed specifically for longer stays — perfect if you’re leaving your car while heading off on a week-long trip.
What makes it even more appealing is the price. The Relax Parking is positioned as a budget-friendly alternative, so you won’t have to empty your wallet just to leave your car somewhere safe. It also comes equipped with nearly 50 electric vehicle charging points, so EV drivers are well taken care of. Getting from the lot to the terminal is simple: a shuttle bus runs every 15 minutes with a journey time of around 8 minutes, or if you prefer stretching your legs after a long drive, you can walk the distance in about 15 minutes.
With this addition, Budapest Airport now boasts over 7,000 parking spaces across all its facilities, along with nearly 90 EV charging points in total. That’s a serious infrastructure investment for a single summer season.
Dropping Off or Picking Up? There’s a Spot for That
Not everyone is parking for days — sometimes you just need to drop someone off or wait a few minutes for an arriving passenger. The Terminal Parking facility handles this perfectly. It’s just a short walk from the terminal building via a covered walkway, so there’s no getting drenched in a summer downpour. A dedicated zone inside means you can handle quick pick-ups and drop-offs without the stress of circling or the premium pricing of the departure-level drop-off zone. Both arriving and departing passengers benefit from the fast terminal access, making it one of the most convenient options available.
Public Transport: The 100E Airport Express Gets a Boost
If driving isn’t your thing, Budapest’s public transport connection to the airport is getting better too. The airport is actively supporting an increase in frequency on the 100E Airport Express bus, which runs directly between the airport and Deák Ferenc Square in the city center. More frequent departures mean less waiting around and a more reliable journey, which is especially welcome during peak summer travel when every minute counts.
Beyond the increased frequency, Budapest Airport is also preparing several infrastructure improvements to make the bus service even more passenger-friendly. These include a dedicated boarding zone and a new ticket validation system — small details that add up to a much smoother experience when you’re juggling luggage and trying to catch your connection.
Taxis, Uber, and Car Sharing — Know Where to Go
Ground transportation at Budapest Airport is well-organized, but knowing exactly where to find your ride saves precious time. The airport’s official contracted taxi partner is Főtaxi, and you’ll find the traditional taxi rank on the arrivals level of both Terminal 2A and Terminal 2B.
Uber is also fully operational at the airport. Standard Uber rides are picked up on the Terminal 2A side, while if you’ve booked an Uber XXL or another larger vehicle, head to Terminal 2B instead. It’s a simple distinction, but easy to miss if you’re not expecting it.
Car-sharing enthusiasts will be pleased to know that GreenGo, MOL Limo, and Wigo are all available at the airport, giving you flexible, self-driven options from the moment you land. And if you prefer a door-to-door private transfer, MiniBUD offers premium minibus services and is planning to expand its fleet with more high-end vehicles, raising the bar for comfort on that final leg of your journey into Budapest.
Plan Ahead for a Stress-Free Arrival
With so many options on the table, the best thing you can do before your trip is check the Budapest Airport website for the latest information on parking availability, pricing, and transport schedules. Summer is the busiest season, and spaces — especially in the more affordable lots — can fill up faster than you’d expect. Pre-booking your parking online is also worth considering, as it often comes with a discount and guarantees your spot.
Budapest is one of Europe’s most rewarding city breaks, and your journey should start and end on a high note. With these new facilities and improvements in place for summer 2026, Budapest Airport is making sure it does exactly that.
