All Saints’ Day in Budapest 2026: Extra Public Transport Services and Cemetery Travel Advice

Getting Around Budapest During All Saints’ Day 2025: Essential Travel Tips for Visitors

Visiting Budapest at the end of October? If your plans include a cemetery visit, allow a little extra time for the journey. From 29 October to 1 November 2026, Budapest’s transport authority, BKK, is introducing more frequent departures, larger vehicles and special services to help passengers reach the city’s cemeteries.

The most significant changes take place on Saturday, 31 October, and Sunday, 1 November, with additional trams and buses, temporary diversions and road restrictions around the New Public Cemetery. For visitors unfamiliar with the city, public transport is the most practical option: BKK expects heavy car traffic near cemeteries, where parking is limited.

When Do the Special Transport Arrangements Apply?

BKK’s announced cemetery transport measures cover Thursday, 29 October, through Sunday, 1 November 2026. Some changes apply throughout these four days, while many of the additional services operate only on 31 October and 1 November.

All Saints’ Day falls on 1 November, followed by All Souls’ Day on 2 November. Although the announcement relates to the wider remembrance period, the transport arrangements described here should not be assumed to continue on 2 November.

Before travelling, check your exact departure date in BudapestGO. The app uses real-time service information to suggest routes and also allows you to buy tickets and passes.

Easier Boarding at Stops Beside Cemeteries

From 29 October to 1 November, between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. each day, BKK will suspend front-door-only boarding at designated cemetery stops on the routes covered by the arrangements.

At these stops, passengers can use all doors to board and leave the vehicle, helping services move more smoothly during busy periods. This is a temporary boarding change, not free travel: you still need a valid ticket or pass.

New Public Cemetery: Extra Trams, Buses and Temporary Diversions

The New Public Cemetery has some of the most extensive transport changes. From Blaha Lujza Square, BKK recommends trams 28 and 37. From Kőbánya-Kispest metro station, buses 68, 202E and 268 provide connections, joined on 31 October and 1 November by the special 68B service between the station and the cemetery.

A special express tram, numbered 28E, will also run between Keleti Railway Station and the New Public Cemetery on 31 October and 1 November. It will stop only at selected major stops, offering a quicker journey on parts of the route. Check your boarding stop in BudapestGO rather than assuming it serves every stop used by the regular trams.

Buses 95 and 195 remain another option from Puskás Ferenc Stadium metro station, but their cemetery-bound routes towards Felsőcsatári köz will change on those two days. They will travel via Harmat Street and Újhegyi Road, skipping several usual stops, including Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Hospital, Venyige Street and Sírkert Road. At the cemetery, bus 95 will stop on Újhegyi Road before the roundabout.

Drivers should expect temporary restrictions around the cemetery, including one-way traffic arrangements and sections reserved for public transport. As the supplied announcement gives conflicting directions for the one-way arrangement on Sírkert Road, check live traffic information and follow on-site signs rather than relying on a fixed approach route.

Fiumei Road Cemetery: Tram Connections for Visitors

For visitors planning a trip to Fiumei Road Cemetery, BKK recommends trams 23 and 24, along with trams 28, 28A and 37 when travelling from the direction of Kőbánya.

The special 28E express tram will also operate along the Keleti Railway Station–New Public Cemetery corridor on 31 October and 1 November. Because it has a limited stopping pattern, check whether it suits your journey before boarding.

When using BudapestGO, search for the local name, “Fiumei úti sírkert,” to identify the destination more easily.

Farkasrét Cemetery: More Frequent Services on the Buda Side

Farkasrét Cemetery will benefit from more frequent daytime services on trams 59 and 59A on 31 October and 1 November. These provide useful connections from Széll Kálmán Square and Déli Railway Station, both accessible by metro line M2.

Bus 53 will also run more frequently on those dates. Alongside the regular 8E service, a special 8A bus will operate every ten minutes between Keleti Railway Station and Kelenföld Railway Station, providing another option for reaching the cemetery area.

For visitors staying in central Budapest, the best choice will depend on where you are starting, so compare the tram and bus options before setting off.

Óbuda Cemetery: Additional Connections from the H5 Suburban Railway

For Óbuda Cemetery, BKK recommends buses 160 and 260, which will use larger articulated vehicles on 31 October and 1 November. Bus 160 will also depart more frequently.

A special 218A bus will join regular routes 118 and 218, running between Szentlélek Square suburban railway station and the Óbuda bus garage. This creates an additional connection for passengers arriving on the H5 suburban railway.

When searching for services, use “Óbudai temető,” the cemetery’s local name.

Megyer and Rákospalota Cemeteries: Increased Capacity in Northern Pest

Megyer Cemetery will have more frequent services on buses 30A and 196 on 31 October and 1 November. Buses 30, 230 and 147 provide further options. On 29 and 30 October, bus 122E will additionally stop at the cemetery when travelling towards its Káposztásmegyer terminus, while bus 196 will also run more frequently.

For Rákospalota Cemetery, BKK recommends buses 196, 196A, 231 and 231B, alongside tram 69 and bus 130. The latter will use articulated vehicles from 29 October to 1 November to accommodate more passengers.

Southern Pest Cemeteries: Extra Buses and Replacement Services

Passengers travelling to Pesterzsébet Cemetery should note that BKK recommends the low-floor replacement buses numbered 2B and 52, as well as bus 36. A special 36B bus will run between Csepel’s Saint Emeric Square and the Szentlőrinci Road housing estate on 31 October and 1 November. Additional support comes from special bus 135A on 31 October and more frequent bus 135 services on 1 November.

For Kispest Cemetery, buses 93 and 93A will run more frequently on 31 October and 1 November. Tram 42 and buses 132E, 142E, 194 and 194B offer further connections.

Pestszentlőrinc Cemetery will also benefit from more frequent services on buses 93, 93A, 182 and 184 on those two days. Several other routes serve the area, so use the destination name “Lőrinci temető” when checking the most suitable connection.

Csepel and Cinkota Cemeteries: More Space and More Departures

For Csepel Cemetery, buses 38, 38A, 138 and 238 will follow their regular timetables but use larger articulated vehicles. A special 138A service will run from 29 October to 1 November between Saint Emeric Square in Csepel and Hárosi csárda.

Cinkota Cemetery will be served by more frequent departures on buses 92 and 92A on 31 October and 1 November.

Budafok, Budakeszi and Nagytétény: Check Your Connection Before Travelling

Budafok Cemetery can be reached by buses 58 and 158, as well as buses 250 and 250B, which will run more frequently on 31 October and 1 November. A special 158B service will also depart from Savoya Park on those dates.

For Budakeszi Cemetery, BKK recommends buses 188, 188E and 222. Buses 22 and 22A offer another option with a short walk, while regional buses towards Telki also serve the area.

For Nagytétény Cemetery, the recommended routes are buses 13, 33, 113, 113A and 133E. Check the most convenient stop and walking connection in BudapestGO before setting off.

Kozma Street Jewish Cemetery and Békásmegyer Cemetery

For Kozma Street Jewish Cemetery, BKK recommends tram 28 from Blaha Lujza Square, or buses 68 and 268 from Kőbánya-Kispest metro station. Transport availability does not confirm cemetery opening hours, so check visitor access separately before making the journey.

Around Békásmegyer Cemetery, the temporary all-door boarding arrangements apply to bus 160 at Zemplén Győző Street and bus 243 at Tamás Street during the announced hours.

Plan Ahead for a Smoother Journey

The additional services are designed to make cemetery visits easier, but stops and vehicles may still be busy. Leave some flexibility in your schedule, check both your outward and return journeys, and use the Hungarian cemetery name when searching if the English version does not produce a clear result.

BudapestGO is the most useful starting point for public transport planning, while BKK Info provides updates on disruptions and road restrictions. Check cemetery opening hours separately with the relevant operator, particularly if you are planning a late-afternoon or evening visit.

A little preparation will help you travel with less uncertainty—and leave more time for the purpose of your visit.
