McDonald’s Hungary Launches Jenő Rácz’s New Limited Burger and Dessert

A burger inspired by Welsh flavours, an ice cream dessert rooted in a Hungarian childhood favourite, and a late-night DJ programme at Western Railway Station: McDonald’s offers a few unexpected experiences for visitors to Budapest this autumn.

The second Limited by Rácz Jenő collection launched nationwide on October 15, 2026. Created in collaboration with Hungarian chef Jenő Rácz, it pairs a beef burger with seasoned potatoes and a spicy Worcestershire-style dipping sauce. A separately available dessert takes inspiration from madártej, Hungary’s much-loved floating-island-style sweet.

Behind the collection are two very different chapters of the chef’s life: learning to cook with his grandmother and beginning his professional journey in Wales.

A Burger Inspired by the Chef’s Early Days in Cardiff

The story behind the Limited Burger – Second Act begins in Cardiff, where Rácz arrived as a young chef at the start of his career. There, he encountered Welsh rarebit, whose combination of cheese, mustard and Worcestershire sauce left a lasting impression. Those flavours became the starting point for his latest McDonald’s collaboration.

The burger brings together a 100% beef patty and crispy bacon inside a glossy bun with a golden-yellow interior. A spicy Worcestershire-style sauce, enriched with mustard, mayonnaise and seasonings, adds a tangy edge.

There is plenty happening in the cheese department, too. Alongside a processed white cheddar slice sits a breaded cheddar cheese patty, designed to be crisp outside and creamy within. Sweet red onion chutney and fresh frisée lettuce provide a contrast to the richer ingredients.

This is a substantial burger rather than a light snack: the published nutritional information puts the burger alone at 1,014 calories. Expect some heat from the sauce alongside the cheese, bacon and sweet chutney.

Seasoned Potatoes and a Matching Dipping Sauce

The burger’s flavour carries through to its accompaniments. The Limited Seasoned Potatoes are rustic-cut and served with a separately available Worcestershire-style dipping sauce that echoes the sauce inside the burger.

Mustard, mayonnaise and spices give the dip its character, while yeast extract adds savoury depth. If you enjoy trying a country’s special-edition fast-food offerings, the combination makes a change from the familiar burger-and-fries order.

The Limited Menu – Second Act includes the burger, seasoned potatoes, dipping sauce and a medium 0.4-litre soft drink or Lipton Ice Tea. The burger can also be ordered individually or in McMenü and McMenü Plus combinations. When ordering, look for the specific Limited Menu if you want the seasoned potatoes and matching dip rather than assuming every meal option includes them.

A Hungarian Childhood Favourite Reimagined as Ice Cream

The dessert takes a different direction, swapping the burger’s Welsh inspiration for a flavour memory from Rácz’s childhood.

As a boy of around seven or eight, he learned to make madártej with his grandmother and later prepared it for his family. Its vanilla-and-egg character became the inspiration for the Limited Dessert, which reworks those familiar flavours into an ice cream creation.

Vanilla-flavoured ice cream forms the base, topped with a sweet egg-based sauce. Slightly salty almond sponge cubes add texture, followed by whipped cream and a crunchy salted almond crumble.

For foreign visitors, it offers an introduction to flavours associated with a Hungarian favourite, although it is a modern interpretation rather than a serving of traditional madártej. The contrast between creamy vanilla, sweet sauce and salted almond pieces also gives it an identity of its own.

The dessert is sold separately and is not included in the Limited Menu. It is also unavailable through McDelivery, so you will need to order it directly from a restaurant.

Nyugati Lounge: Late-Night DJs at Western Railway Station

For a different setting in which to enjoy your McDonald’s favourites, the renovated restaurant at Western Railway Station hosts Nyugati Lounge, a music programme that brings DJs and immersive light projections into the dining space.

On Friday and Saturday nights, from 10 pm until 2 am, the restaurant takes on a late-night atmosphere. The projections transport diners through scenes inspired by the depths of the ocean, the rainforest and outer space, turning a food stop into something a little more unexpected.

Whether you are warming up for a night out or winding down after an evening in Budapest, the programme offers an alternative to the usual takeaway stop. It is also an opportunity to experience the Western Railway Station restaurant in a different light—quite literally—with music and projected scenery adding another dimension to the surroundings.

When and How to Try the Limited Menu in Budapest

The full collection became available across Hungary on October 15, following an app-only preview on October 13 and 14. That introductory promotion has ended, but the range remains available until withdrawn or while stocks last. No fixed end date has been announced.

You can order through the McDonald’s app or in restaurants, subject to availability. At locations serving McBreakfast, the limited-edition products are available after 10:30 am.

If your travels take you beyond Budapest, note that the Limited Seasoned Potatoes and the complete Limited Menu are not offered at the Malom shopping centre branch in Kecskemét, the Árkád branch in Pécs or the Vértes branch in Tatabánya.

A Different Kind of Food Stop Between Budapest Sights

This collaboration is not a substitute for exploring Budapest’s traditional restaurants, cafés and pastry shops. Its appeal is different: a familiar international chain becomes the setting for flavours tied to a Hungarian chef’s own experiences.

The burger draws on the cheese-and-mustard richness of his early career in Wales, while the dessert returns to the vanilla-scented memories of his grandmother’s kitchen. Add a Friday or Saturday evening at Nyugati Lounge, and a quick meal can become an unexpected late-night stop on your Budapest itinerary.
