Mozart Day at the Liszt Academy: A Celebration of Classical Music
On March 2, 2025, Budapest will once again host one of its most significant classical music events: the Mozart Day organized by Concerto Budapest at the Liszt Academy. This all-day festival, traditionally held on the first Sunday of March, promises an exceptional program celebrating Mozart’s musical genius.
World-Class Artists at Mozart’s Celebration
The event will feature renowned guest artists, including Albrecht Mayer, the celebrated solo oboist of the Berlin Philharmonic, and Angela Hewitt, the internationally acclaimed British pianist who is a returning guest artist of the festival. Under the artistic direction of András Keller, Concerto Budapest and its soloists will captivate the audience with unique performances.
A Day Filled with Concerts
The festival comprises four distinct concerts showcasing Mozart’s most outstanding works:
Opening Concert (11:00 AM, Grand Hall)
- Mozart’s Horn Concerto in E-flat major performed by Gábor Devecsai
- Piano Concerto in C major interpreted by Angela Hewitt
- The famous Gran Partita
Simultaneously, in the Cupola Hall, Izabella Simon will present “Magic Hour,” an interactive children’s program.
Afternoon Concert (3:00 PM, Grand Hall)
Chamber works including the Oboe Quartet in F major and String Quintet in G minor, alongside a rarely heard sonata for bassoon and cello performed by Bálint Mohai and Dóra Kokas. The concert will also feature Albrecht Mayer, Orsolya Kaczander, and the Keller Quartet.
Closing Concert (7:30 PM, Grand Hall)
The festival culminates with masterpieces such as Mozart’s Exultate Jubilate arranged for oboe and performed by Albrecht Mayer, the Piano Concerto in C minor interpreted by Angela Hewitt, and the grand finale, the “Prague” Symphony in D major.
