Drum and Bass on the Danube: Budapest’s Coolest Free Summer Event

If you’re in Budapest on Saturday, July 11, 2026, clear your evening — because the city is throwing one of its most exciting free events of the summer right on the banks of the Danube.
A Riverside Party Like No Other
Starting at 4:00 PM and running all the way until midnight, Drum and Bass on the Embankment (Drum and Bass a Rakparton) takes over the Viadukt Bár on Jane Haining Embankment on the Pest side of the river. The location alone is worth showing up for: nestled between the iconic Chain Bridge and Elizabeth Bridge, the lower Pest embankment is one of the most scenic stretches of riverfront in all of Central Europe. On a warm summer evening, with the Buda Castle glowing across the water and bass music thumping through the air, it’s the kind of experience that makes you fall in love with Budapest all over again.
And the best part? Entry is completely free.
What Is RAKPART~2026?
This event is part of a much bigger summer initiative called RAKPART~2026, a seasonal transformation of Budapest’s lower Pest embankment between Chain Bridge and Elizabeth Bridge. Every summer, the stretch that normally carries car traffic is reclaimed by the city and turned into an open-air rest area and community space — bringing people closer to the river, to the city, and to each other.
The project runs under the mandate of the Municipality of Budapest, realized in collaboration with Valyo – City and River Association and the Budapest Cultural Center. It’s a beloved annual tradition that locals look forward to all year, and it makes the embankment one of the liveliest outdoor spaces in the city throughout the warmer months.
The Music: Six Artists, Eight Hours of Pure DnB
The lineup for July 11 brings together six artists who represent some of the best drum and bass talent Budapest has to offer. LQD, OLIV:R, PELSOMATIC, CSAPOS, USUL, and BOTI will each take the decks across the eight-hour programme, delivering a carefully curated selection of drum and bass from late afternoon into the night. Whether you’re a seasoned DnB head or just curious to see what the genre sounds like echoing off the Danube, the vibe promises to be energetic, welcoming, and thoroughly unforgettable.
How to Get There
Jane Haining Embankment is easy to reach from virtually anywhere in central Budapest. The nearest metro station is Ferenciek tere on the M3 (blue) line, just a short walk from Elizabeth Bridge. Trams 2 and 2A run directly along the Pest riverfront and stop right by the embankment — tram line 2 is actually considered one of the most scenic tram routes in Europe, so the ride over is already part of the experience.
Practical Tips for Visitors
The event is free to attend, so there’s no need to book tickets in advance — just show up. Since the programme runs from 4:00 PM, it’s worth arriving in the late afternoon to catch the full arc of the music as the sun sets over the Buda Hills and the city lights begin to reflect on the river. Dress comfortably for an outdoor summer evening, and consider bringing a light layer for after dark. There are bars and vendors on-site, so food and drinks are well taken care of.
If you’re planning your Budapest summer itinerary and want one evening that perfectly blends the city’s natural beauty, vibrant music culture, and community spirit — this is it.
