Kolodko’s Christmas Gift: A New Mini-Sculpture
Mihály Kolodko, the renowned guerrilla artist, has once again surprised Budapest’s residents with his new miniature sculptures. His latest works, placed in various parts of the city, continue the tradition of unexpected and intriguing artistic installations.
Christmas Surprise in Buda
On Christmas Eve, Kolodko placed his newest miniature at the corner of Medve and Vitéz streets in the Buda district. This charming sculpture features not one, but two beloved cartoon characters:
- Paddington: The famous bear from British children’s stories, dressed in his characteristic raincoat and hat.
- Misha: The large, friendly bear from the popular Russian cartoon “Masha and the Bear.”
The composition shows Paddington sitting on Misha, creating an adorable and amusing scene. The choice of location is no coincidence – Medve street means “Bear” in Hungarian, perfectly complementing the sculpture’s theme.
Queen Elizabeth II in Millenáris Park
This autumn, Kolodko surprised the public with another extraordinary miniature. In Millenáris Park, a sculpture appeared depicting the late Queen Elizabeth II standing on… a yellow submarine. This intriguing composition combines several elements:
- The figure of the Queen in her characteristic outfit and with her inseparable handbag.
- A yellow submarine, referencing the famous Beatles song.
- Located on a small island surrounded by a pond, accessible from Lövőház Street.
The choice of theme and location is not random. Kolodko created this sculpture in 2022, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, connecting her figure with an element of pop culture. The reference to The Beatles recalls the Queen’s bestowal of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) upon the band members.
Kolodko’s Artistic Vision

His miniature sculptures, placed in unexpected locations around Budapest, have become a tourist attraction in their own right.
