Budapest Cemetery Opening Hours for All Saints’ Day 2026

All Saints' Day in Budapest 2025: Your Essential Guide

Budapest’s municipally maintained public cemeteries will stay open longer over the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day period, giving visitors more time to remember loved ones. From October 30 to November 2, 2026, the cemeteries covered by the announcement will welcome visitors daily from 7 am to 8 pm.

If you are visiting a family grave during your Budapest stay, the extended hours offer more flexibility. However, vehicle restrictions will apply at most of these cemeteries on October 31 and November 1, so planning your journey is just as important as checking the opening times.

Extended Cemetery Opening Hours from October 30 to November 2

The holiday schedule applies for four consecutive days, from Friday, October 30, through Monday, November 2. All Saints’ Day falls on Sunday, November 1, followed by All Souls’ Day on Monday, November 2.

The participating locations include the New Public Cemetery, Óbuda Cemetery and Farkasrét Cemetery, along with the cemeteries in Budafok, Csepel, Kispest, Megyer, Pestszentlőrinc, Cinkota, Pesterzsébet and Rákospalota. The announcement also covers Csömör Cemetery, Kispest Old Cemetery, Tamás Street Urn Cemetery and Angeli Road Urn Cemetery.

These extended hours concern the municipally maintained cemeteries named in the announcement. They should not be treated as a citywide schedule for every cemetery in Budapest, so check separately if your destination is not among them.

Vehicle Restrictions on October 31 and November 1

To help maintain a peaceful environment during the busiest days, vehicle entry will be prohibited at the participating municipal cemeteries on Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, with the exception of the New Public Cemetery.

At the New Public Cemetery, car entry will be free of charge during opening hours on both days, from opening on October 31 until closing on November 1. This does not mean the cemetery will remain open overnight: the daily visiting hours are still 7 am to 8 pm.

If you need vehicle access because of reduced mobility, check the arrangements at your chosen cemetery before travelling. The operator also asks visitors with reduced mobility who are arriving by car to aim for the quieter morning period wherever possible.

Getting to Budapest’s Cemeteries by Public Transport

The cemetery operator recommends using public transport during the holiday period, when surrounding roads are expected to be busy and parking spaces limited.

BKK is preparing more frequent services during the busiest periods to help accommodate the increased number of visitors. For travellers unfamiliar with Budapest, checking your route and return journey before setting out will make the visit easier, particularly if you plan to stay until the evening.

The longer opening hours give you more choice about when to visit, but they do not remove the likelihood of crowds around the most popular arrival times.

Special Access Arrangements at Kispest Cemetery

Visitors to Kispest Cemetery should allow for additional road restrictions. The municipality will close the road leading to the cemetery entrance to general vehicle traffic to make access safer for pedestrians. Only visitors with reduced mobility will be permitted to drive through that section to enter the cemetery.

Parking will be available at Bozsik Stadium, but there is an important exception on Saturday, October 31. The car park will close during the afternoon for a football match, so visitors should not rely on being able to park there throughout the day.

Cemetery Office Hours and Telephone Assistance

Cemetery visiting hours and office opening hours are different. From October 26 to November 1, cemetery offices will operate extended customer-service hours from 7:30 am to 5 pm.

During this period, staff can provide information, handle the purchase or renewal of grave-use rights and sell individual cemetery-related products. Funeral arrangements can be made during normal weekday office hours between October 26 and 30.

Budapest Public Utilities will also provide telephone assistance on October 31 and November 1, between 8 am and 4 pm, on +36 1 700 7000.

For a straightforward visit, keep the two schedules in mind: the participating cemeteries remain accessible until 8 pm from October 30 to November 2, but anyone needing help from an office should arrive earlier and note that the extended office schedule ends on November 1.
