BudapestGO App Introduces ‘Boarding’ Button!

The Budapest Public Transport Center has introduced a new feature to the BudapestGO app – the ‘Boarding’ button! This exciting new addition makes it even easier for passengers with passes or daily tickets to board vehicles without the need for code scanning. With this new function, you can now display the boarding pass with a single tap before the vehicle arrives at the stop, which you need to show during inspection.

How Does It Work?

To use this feature, simply tap on the ‘Boarding’ icon in the upper right corner of your pass or daily ticket within the app. From the list of available routes, select the one you wish to board, and the boarding pass will appear instantly. Boarding with a digital ticket has never been easier!

Making Digital Ticket Usage Easier

On December 16, 2024, Budapest Public Transport Company made digital ticket usage even more convenient. The company expanded its BudapestGO app with a new feature called the “Boarding” button, which is an enhancement of the existing “metro” button for surface vehicles. With this innovation, passengers with passes will find it simpler and faster to board first-door buses or trolleys as there will be no need for code scanning. By clicking on the “Boarding” button, passengers can instantly display the necessary boarding pass for inspection purposes, making it easier for both passengers and drivers.

Continuous Improvement Based on Customer Feedback

BKK continuously explores customer needs and shapes its developments based on feedback. The company aims to make public transportation more attractive to a wider audience and encourage more people to use their digital solutions daily. The enhancement of the existing “metro” button in the app is a step towards achieving this goal by introducing a similar functionality for surface vehicles with the new “Boarding” button available on passes and daily tickets accessible from both within the app and via widgets.

Key Points About the ‘Boarding’ Button

This new feature simplifies validation when using Budapest passes, county passes, and daily tickets. Passengers only need to scan their tickets if requested by an inspector at metro entrances or when boarding via the first door on specific routes. However, occasional tickets like line tickets that require validation will still need code scanning for ticket validation and displaying of boarding passes.

The “Boarding” button can also be used on Volánbusz routes within Budapest. It is advisable to click on this button at the stop before your journey when multiple vehicles are listed with matching numbers in the app; select based on vehicle registration number when needed. When boarding a metro train, only select the metro station, not the desired line.
