Plan a journey in BudapestGO as you normally would. If your suggested route includes a metro ride, the app can now show you which car to choose for a quicker exit or a more convenient transfer. You don’t need to turn on a separate setting; the recommendation appears as part of route planning.

It’s particularly useful when you have little time to change lines. Rather than stepping off the train and walking the length of an unfamiliar platform, you can position yourself before boarding. The same idea applies at your final stop: if you’re eager to get out of the station and on with your day, knowing where to board can help you take a more direct route to the exit.

For tourists, that guidance takes away a small but common uncertainty. You may know exactly which station you need, but not where its stairs, escalators or connecting passages will be when you arrive. BudapestGO’s new recommendation helps you make that decision while you’re still on the platform.

If step-free travel matters to you, make sure you plan an accessible route in the app rather than relying on the standard recommendation. That way, the suggested boarding position is based on reaching the lift, not just the quickest general exit.

When Will the Feature Appear?

Budapest’s transport authority, BKK, announced the update on 29 September 2026. The feature is being introduced gradually, so you may not see the new icon in BudapestGO straight away. BKK says it should become available to all users within a few days of the announcement.
