The Community Budget Vote Is On!

Hey there, Budapest residents! Get ready to have your say in how the city’s community budget is spent. The exciting voting process is now underway, and it’s your chance to make a difference in your beloved city.

If you’re a local resident, work in Budapest, or attend school here, you’re eligible to vote. That’s right, even if you don’t have a registered address in the city, as long as you’re part of the Budapest community, your voice matters.

From August 21st to October 7th, you can choose from 175 brilliant ideas submitted by fellow Budapestians. These ideas have been carefully selected from nearly 700 submissions, ensuring that the most promising and impactful proposals are on the table.

Voting is a breeze. Simply head over to the otlet.budapest.hu website and cast your votes online. If you prefer the old-school way, you can also vote in person at designated branches of the Fővárosi Szabó Ervin Library, the General Customer Service of the Mayor’s Office during opening hours, or at special voting events during the last three weekends of the voting period.

The ideas are grouped into five categories, making it easy for you to find the ones that resonate with you the most. There are two location-specific categories, “Local Small Ideas” and “Local Big Ideas,” which even come with handy maps to help you visualize the potential impact. Additionally, there are three city-wide categories: “Opportunity-Creating Budapest,” “Open Budapest,” and “Green Budapest.” You can vote for three ideas in each category, giving you a total of 15 votes to make your voice heard.

But wait, there’s more! By participating in the voting process, you’ll also be entered into a prize draw. You could win family passes to the Budapest Zoo, tickets to various thermal baths and the Zugliget Chairlift, an exclusive night tour of the Rákosi Bunker, or even tickets to a performance at the Örkény Theater.
