A Unique Exhibition Celebrating Humanity’s Musical Heritage
How would you introduce Earth and humanity to someone who has never visited our planet? What would you preserve in a musical time capsule for future generations to discover a thousand years from now? These fascinating questions form the foundation of “LISTEN.,” an innovative exhibition that celebrates music as a universal language connecting people across cultures and generations.
Created from an extensive documentary film project by American filmmaker Garry Bassin and Japanese actor, producer, and writer Tomoko Yamaguchi, “LISTEN.” showcases intimate performances and traditional ceremonies captured over ten years in more than thirty countries. The films feature over one hundred musicians, providing authentic glimpses into diverse cultural celebrations and musical rituals worldwide.

Celebrating Cultural Diversity and Shared Human Experiences
At its core, “LISTEN.” emphasizes both cultural diversity and shared human experiences expressed through music. It explores how listening deeply fosters communication among people worldwide while highlighting music’s presence in every aspect of our lives.
The exhibition also examines intriguing intersections between nature and music in Lithuania’s ancient traditions; explores traditional Corsican or Icelandic choral singing; reveals pastoral melodies from Patagonia; or investigates migration’s influence on Central American musical landscapes.
