Neapolitan Pizza Night in Budapest: A Delicious Tradition Continues

Neapolitan Pizza Night in Budapest

Hey pizza lovers, get ready for a night of pure bliss! The Neapolitan Pizza Night is back in Budapest on September 19th, and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever.

Last year was the first time pizza enthusiasts across the country came together to celebrate the feast of San Gennaro, the patron saint of Naples, and indulge in some late-night pizza fiesta. And guess what? The awesome initiative is happening again in 2024, with even more pizzerias and restaurants participating, covering the entire country from the inner districts of Budapest all the way to Herend.

As you may know, the original “pizza napoletana” and its traditional preparation method were added to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2017. This Italian dish, with a history spanning over 200 years, has taken the world by storm in the last decade. The art of making Neapolitan pizza has been mastered by countless people, and this cross-continental tradition is truly unparalleled.

On September 19th, the whole of Naples celebrates San Gennaro with a big street festival that lasts well into the night. And since last year, we’ve been joining in on the fun with the Neapolitan Pizza Night. It’s a tribute to authentic Neapolitan pizzas, a celebration for those who love Italy and pizza, and an opportunity for those who are still discovering the delights of Neapolitan-style specialties.

From 6 PM to 11 PM, you can enjoy the world’s most beloved dish at a discounted price. Pizzerias across the country are once again offering a 50% discount on three of their favorite pizzas. The celebration starts at 6 PM sharp and lasts until 11 PM (or until supplies last, if the dough runs out earlier) at each restaurant.

The plan is to make several thousand Neapolitan pizzas with airy dough and Italian toppings on this special evening. Just like last year, most restaurants require reservations for the September 19th event, but some will be relying on their prepared dough and serving customers on a first-come, first-served basis until they run out.

On the official website of the event, you can find all the participating pizzerias and details on how to make reservations or get in line to ensure you get your slice of heaven at your chosen spot. The reservation period has already started and will end on September 19th at 12 PM. Then, at 6 PM, the nationwide pizza celebration begins!

Last year’s Neapolitan Pizza Night proved that unity exists, showcased the incredible pizza makers we have here in Hungary, and demonstrated the power of guests’ enthusiasm and patience. This year, the tradition continues with even more participating cities and pizzerias.

So mark your calendars, make your reservations, and get ready to indulge in some heavenly Neapolitan pizzas at half price on September 19th. It’s going to be a night to remember, filled with the aroma of fresh pizza and the warmth of Italian hospitality. Ci vediamo!
