As the holiday season winds down, Budapest’s enchanting light-adorned public transportation vehicles are preparing for their final journeys. Don’t miss your chance to experience these dazzling sights before they disappear for another year!
Illuminated Trams: A Fifteen-Year Tradition
For the fifteenth consecutive year, Budapest’s iconic Light Trams have been spreading joy throughout the city. These festive vehicles, adorned with 1.4 kilometers of white LED strings (11,200 LEDs) and 260 meters of blue LED strings (2,550 LEDs), have become a beloved holiday tradition.
Hurry! The Light Trams will make their final runs on Monday evening, January 6, 2025. You can still catch them daily from 4 PM to 9 PM until then (except on December 24 and 31).
A Rainbow of Festive Vehicles
It’s not just the Light Trams that are bringing holiday cheer to Budapest’s streets:
- Combino Tram: Decked out with 26 light strings totaling 4,784 LEDs and festive stickers.
- Cogwheel Railway: Both interior and exterior are adorned with holiday decorations, including 500 meters of LED strings forming Christmas motifs.
- Hannover Tram: Sporting 7,000 LEDs and illuminated pantographs.
- ICS Tram: Features mysterious blue lights at the wheels and white LED strips along its sides.
- KCSV-7 Tram: Decorated with 800 meters of LED strings (6,720 LEDs) and 200 meters of blue LED strings on its roof.
- Tatra Tram: Illuminated by 540 meters of LED strips containing 64,800 white LEDs.
LEGO Tram: A Unique Attraction
Don’t forget about the life-sized LEGO tram at Deák Ferenc Square! This incredible creation, made from 1.8 million LEGO bricks, is 11.5 meters long, 2 meters high, and 2 meters wide. It’s a true marvel of creativity and engineering.
Last chance! The LEGO tram will be on display until Sunday evening, January 6, 2025. Don’t miss this opportunity to snap a selfie with this extraordinary vehicle before it returns to the depot.
