Land of the Ring – A Lord of the Rings Exhibition in Budapest

If you’re a fan of J.R.R. Tolkien or simply looking for one of Budapest’s most unique cultural experiences this summer, the Land of the Ring exhibition is unmissable. Running from May 22 to August 30, 2026, this immersive fantasy showcase transports you straight into the legendary world of Middle-earth — right in the heart of Budapest.
What Is the Land of the Ring Exhibition?
The Land of the Ring is a large-scale, immersive experience spread across more than 300 square meters at Kecskeméti utca 5 in Budapest’s city center. Inspired by the iconic Lord of the Rings film trilogy and The Rings of Power, the exhibition features breathtaking dioramas, life-size statues, detailed collector’s pieces, and carefully crafted sets that recreate the most iconic locations from Tolkien’s universe. It’s also a fitting tribute to a milestone year — 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of The Fellowship of the Ring hitting the big screen in 2001.
The exhibition is produced by Élménytervezők, the creative team behind previous Budapest hits like The Art of Banksy, Leonardo da Vinci: Artist, Genius, Inventor, and the long-running Travelling Galaxy Star Wars exhibition. This time, they’ve partnered with the Hungarian Tolkien Society as well as local artists, collectors, and cosplayers to ensure authenticity down to every last detail.
Walking the Path of the Fellowship
What makes this exhibition truly special is the journey. You don’t just look at displays — you follow the route of the Fellowship itself, room by room, from the peaceful Shire all the way to the dark fires of Mordor.
The Shire – Ground Floor I
Your adventure begins in the Shire, in the cozy village of Hobbiton. Step through a round, Bag End-style door and meet a familiar face — Gandalf the Grey — as your unexpected journey begins.
Rivendell – Ground Floor II
From the Shire, your path leads to the elven haven of Rivendell, where you can soak in the beauty of the elven world before heading south toward the gates of Moria.
Moria, Rohan & Gondor – Ground Floor III
Emerging from the mines of Moria, your path continues to the Argonath and on to the sweeping landscapes of Rohan and Gondor. Marvel at the mighty fortresses of Helm’s Deep and Minas Tirith — but stay alert, because something is following you, searching for its long-lost “precious.”
