Oldtimer Show Budapest 2026

Vintage cars, century-old motorcycles and historic locomotives come together at Oldtimer Show Budapest on October 17–18, 2026. Taking place at the Hungarian Railway Museum, the 22nd edition brings a selection of 500 classic vehicles to a setting that makes the journey into transport history part of the experience.
Whether you’re passionate about classic cars or looking for a family outing during your Budapest stay, there’s plenty to explore beyond the main exhibition. Sports cars, wooden boats, railway attractions and children’s activities turn the weekend into much more than a traditional car show.

Classic cars in historic halls
The main exhibition fills the Orient and West locomotive halls with vehicles from different eras and corners of the world. Cars and motorcycles from socialist-era Eastern Europe sit alongside Western European classics, American models, luxury cars and Italian and British sports cars. Hot rods add a new category to this year’s selection.
Pre-war vehicles are a particular focus, including motorcycles and wooden-wheeled automobiles more than a century old. The oldest announced exhibit is a 130-year-old automobile, which the organisers plan to start several times each day.
Among the advertised highlights are a Bugatti Atlantic, with its distinctive riveted bodywork, and a Ferrari 250 GT arriving from abroad. Small cars, tractors, buses and trucks broaden the collection, while technical information sheets and accompanying stories help visitors understand what makes each vehicle special.
Period music and the historic locomotive halls add to the nostalgic atmosphere. The vehicles also compete for 28 awards across different categories, with the presentation taking place at the railway-carriage stage on Saturday afternoon.
Engines, railways and family fun
One of this year’s new attractions is a recreated period ÁFOR petrol station, presented by attendants in vintage clothing. Another is a demonstration of a giant 30,000 cc radial engine, scheduled to be started twice daily. Wooden boats return too, including a catamaran associated with a world speed record.
Best deals of Budapest
The wider programme includes tuning cars, adventure vehicles and sports cars, alongside military heritage displays and a market selling crafts and local produce. A Ford Anglia display inspired by Harry Potter adds another playful attraction, while children can enjoy free inflatable play equipment and receive a complimentary plush toy.
The railway setting gives the event an extra dimension. Visitors can explore steam locomotives, historic railway carriages and model railway displays, with interactive activities advertised around the park, including miniature railway rides, handcars and locomotive turntable experiences. Check any separate charges for these activities before joining.
There’s also space to slow down between displays. A picnic area and food stalls provide somewhere to take a break, and the organisers allow visitors to bring a modest packed snack, such as sandwiches and a small bottle of tea.
Planning your visit
Each admission ticket is valid for one day and also gives access to the railway museum’s displays during the event. The museum’s annual passes are not valid that weekend, and a separate museum-only ticket will not be available.
Keep your ticket after entering if you’d like to take part in the optional prize draw. Complete the reverse side clearly and place it in the collection box at the railway-carriage stage. Visitors attending either day can submit an entry for Sunday’s draw; international visitors should check the full eligibility and prize-collection rules before participating.
If you’re driving, follow the parking attendants’ directions when using the free parking areas. Visitors arriving by bicycle or motorcycle have designated spaces, while those using public transport should plan their journey to the museum in advance.
With displays spread between indoor halls and outdoor areas, allow several hours rather than treating the show as a quick stop. For a Budapest weekend with a nostalgic twist, Oldtimer Show offers a chance to explore classic motoring and railway history in the same visit.
