Although the festival doesn’t start until August 7th, the organizers are already working hard to create an unforgettable experience for all attendees.

First things first, if you’re a dog owner in Budapest, you might want to take note. The Hajógyári Island, where the festival takes place, will be closed from July 29th to August 19th. But don’t worry, it’s all for a good cause! The festival team needs time to transform the 76-hectare area into a mini-city capable of accommodating up to 90,000 people, including festival-goers and staff. That’s right, Sziget Festival will temporarily become the 10th largest city in Hungary!

So, what can you expect at Sziget 2024? Well, get ready for a gastronomic adventure with 100 restaurant and food court units scattered throughout the festival grounds. Whether you’re craving Hungarian cuisine, international flavors, vegan, or allergy-friendly options, you’ll find something to satisfy your taste buds within a 150-meter radius.

The festival organizers have thought of everything to make your experience as comfortable as possible. There will be a city center with information points, customer service, and a complaint office. You’ll also find package and valuables storage, lost and found, ATMs, currency exchange, bicycle storage, and numerous other convenience services.

For those planning to camp, Sziget offers several campsites with various levels of services, including special attention to hygiene and accessibility for wheelchair users. And guess what? In January 2024, Sziget won the prestigious European Take A Stand Award for taking a stand on politically or socially important issues.

Health and safety are top priorities at Sziget. The festival will have a 24/7 health center with over 200 staff members, including doctors, nurses, helpers, and ambulances. The Sziget hospital is equipped to handle minor injuries and even perform X-ray examinations.

Last year, the festival made significant improvements by replacing mobile toilets with flush toilets, featuring around 1,000 English-style toilets – an unprecedented achievement for a festival of this size. The organizers also used circular water from the Danube for dust control, showcasing their commitment to sustainability.

Now, let’s talk about the stages! The Main Stage, which takes ten days to set up, boasts an area of over 1,000 square meters and a 600-square-meter LED wall as its backdrop. The Samsung Party Arena has a 4,000-square-meter viewing area, while the Freedom presented by Mastercard tent can accommodate more than 10,000 people. The TicketSwap Colosseum is built from 3,000 pallets – talk about impressive!

For Sziget 2024, the organizers have some exciting new features in store. On high-demand festival days, they will open pedestrian traffic towards the H-Bridge to avoid congestion. There will be night bus services from the H-Bridge to Margaret Bridge, increased boat services, and changes in taxi traffic, including a new BOLT taxi stand near the H-Bridge.

A Welcome Zone will be set up before the entrance, offering a variety of services such as FestiPay top-up, lost and found, health services (aiming to exceed the Hungarian average), and ATMs.

Sziget 2024 will feature incredible artists like Sam Smith, Stormzy, Aurora, Louis Tomlinson from One Direction, and Liam Gallagher, former frontman of Oasis, who has promised to play songs from Oasis’ first album during his 2024 tour. Hungarian sensation Azahriah will also have a special slot, performing on the Main Stage just before the closing act on August 8th, making him the first Hungarian artist to perform during prime time on the biggest stage in nearly a decade.
