Müpa Budapest, one of Hungary’s most iconic cultural institutions, is set to commemorate its 20th anniversary with a grand weekend of festivities on March 15-16, 2025. The event, titled “Müpa 20 – A Celebration of Generations,” invites audiences to experience the transformative power of arts and culture through a diverse program of performances.

Since its inauguration on March 14, 2005, Müpa has become a multi-generational meeting place, hosting world-class cultural events, extraordinary concerts, and outstanding performances. As one of Europe’s premier cultural centers, Müpa offers a unique combination of concert halls, theaters, and museum spaces, creating an unparalleled artistic experience for visitors.

The anniversary weekend will feature an array of events showcasing Müpa’s rich artistic offerings:

  • Classical music and jazz enthusiasts can enjoy performances by acclaimed artists such as Miklós Perényi, István Várdai, Miklós Lukács, and the Jazzical Trio.
  • The “Together” series will bring Hungary’s leading musical families to the stage at the Bartók Béla National Concert Hall, including the Lakatos, Kelemen, Berecz, Ránki, Bogányi, Balázs, and Oláh families.
  • The “Movement” series will highlight diverse dance styles, featuring the internationally celebrated Recirquel troupe, alongside gala shows dedicated to Hungarian folk and contemporary dance.
  • The “Musician Generations” series will underscore the passing of musical traditions across generations, with concerts showcasing organ, trumpet, cimbalom, and cello performances.
  • The “In Sync” series will promote cultural diversity, offering innovative performances such as “The Great Hungarian Songbook” and “Women’s Energy,” blending various genres and styles.

For younger audiences, morning matinees are planned, while fans of lighter genres can enjoy the Random Trip band’s lively concert.

Müpa’s journey over the past two decades has not only established it as a cultural landmark in Hungary but also as an internationally recognized brand. Its success has inspired other European concert venues to adopt elements of its operational model.

The anniversary celebration is not just a nostalgic look back but an opportunity for audiences of all ages to immerse themselves in Hungary’s vibrant cultural scene and discover the captivating world of the arts.

Ticket sales for this special weekend will begin with a 24-hour presale for Müpa+ loyalty program members on January 14 at 10:00 AM, followed by general public sales starting January 15 at 10:00 AM.
