Construction Works At Margaret Island
Hey there! No matter when you visit Budapest, it seems that there is always a construction going on somewhere. This time, it’s the Margaret Bridge that’s getting some TLC, specifically the bicycle path. So, here’s what you need to know:
From August 22nd to August 28th, the entrance to Margaret Island from the Margit Bridge will be closed to vehicles. But don’t worry, pedestrians and cyclists can still access the island from the bridge. It’s just our four-wheeled friends that will have to take a detour via the Árpád Bridge.
Now, if you’re a fan of public transport like me, there are a few changes to keep in mind. The trusty 26 and 226 buses that usually take us to Margaret Island will be operating on modified routes during this period. But fret not, the 4 and 6 trams will still stop at the Margitsziget / Margit híd stop, so you can enjoy the scenic route to the island.
For those of you who prefer to walk or cycle, you’ll be happy to know that access to Margaret Island from the Margit Bridge will remain open throughout the renovations. Just be prepared for a slightly different traffic flow than what you’re used to.
And if you’re ever unsure about how to navigate these temporary changes, the BudapestGO app (for iOS and Android) is your best friend. It provides real-time information on public transport schedules and helps you plan the optimal route to your destination. Plus, you can even purchase your tickets and passes through the app. Talk about convenience!
So, while the construction work may cause a bit of a hassle, just remember that it’s all for the betterment of our city. And who knows, maybe you’ll discover a new favorite route during this time! Stay safe out there, and happy commuting!
