A Message from Budapest Airport’s CEO

Francois Berisot, CEO of Budapest Airport, expressed pride in the record-breaking summer schedule: “We are proud to offer our passengers more destinations than ever before this summer, and I am confident that everyone will find the airline that best suits their needs to start their holiday. Our new airline development strategy, coupled with VINCI Airports’ extensive network of airline partners, is already delivering very promising results.”

Berisot also emphasized the broader impact of these developments: “Moreover, the record-breaking offer of the summer schedule will not only benefit Hungarian travelers but will also further strengthen tourism in Hungary. Thanks to Budapest’s attractiveness as a destination, we are experiencing steadily growing demand.”

Strengthening Global Connections

Budapest Airport’s summer schedule reflects broader trends in international travel demand. Traffic between Hungary and China has seen remarkable growth, with 357,300 seats available this season—100,000 more than last year—representing a 24% increase. This surge highlights the strong economic ties between Hungary and China as well as the rising interest in Hungary as a tourist destination for Chinese travelers.

Similarly, connections within Europe have been enhanced by increased capacities from existing airline partners such as Lufthansa, Eurowings, KLM, and easyJet. Aer Lingus and Aegean Airlines have raised their weekly flight frequencies to five, improving access to destinations like the United States and Greece’s idyllic islands.

Regional Leadership: Connecting Hungary and Israel

One standout achievement this summer is Budapest Airport’s strengthened connection with Israel. The airport now offers more seats to and from Israel than any other regional airport. This development underscores Budapest’s growing importance as a hub for Middle Eastern travel while providing tourists with greater flexibility when planning their trips.

What This Means for Tourists

For foreign tourists visiting Budapest, these developments open up exciting possibilities for travel both within Europe and beyond. The expanded route network ensures easier access to Hungary’s capital from diverse locations worldwide while offering convenient onward connections to sought-after destinations like Venice or Copenhagen. Whether travelers are arriving for leisure or business purposes, they can expect seamless journeys facilitated by Budapest Airport’s enhanced offerings.

Moreover, Budapest itself remains a captivating destination for visitors exploring its iconic landmarks such as Buda Castle or soaking in its famous thermal baths. With improved connectivity and growing tourism infrastructure supported by record-breaking flight options, exploring Hungary has never been more accessible.
