A Celebration of Folk Music at Müpa Budapest

From Dance House to World Music – The Spirit of Hungarian Tradition
Immerse yourself in the vibrant sounds of Hungary at A Celebration of Folk Music, Müpa Budapest’s annual gala dedicated to folk, world, and popular music. Taking place on Sunday, 22 February 2026, this spectacular night showcases the living pulse of Hungarian folk traditions — reinterpreted, modernized, and blended with global influences.
Since 2008, this much-loved series has filled the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall to capacity, celebrating Hungary’s musical heritage in all its diversity. This year’s program once again brings together some of the country’s most beloved folk musicians, singers, and ensembles for an unforgettable evening of rhythm, dance, and culture.
Dance House in the Atrium
Time: 6 pm – 7 pm

Before the main concert, visitors can step into an authentic Hungarian atmosphere during the Dance House with the Szigony Band, led by Róbert “Szigony” Kerényi. The group brings to life the dynamic rhythms of Moldavian and Gyimes Csángó folk music, combining ancient melodies with a modern edge. Dancers Gabi Erdei and Attila “Zappa” Fülöp will lead the steps, turning Müpa’s Atrium into a joyful celebration of movement and music.
This pre-concert dance house is a cherished Müpa tradition — a warm-up that connects audiences directly to the folk roots from which the evening’s grand performances draw inspiration.
