Vibe Budapest: A Unique Dining and Entertainment Experience Opening in October
Károly Gerendai, the founder of the renowned Sziget Festival, is set to launch an innovative hybrid entertainment venue called Vibe Budapest in October. Located next to Ötkert in Budapest, this Moulin Rouge-inspired establishment aims to offer a unique dining and entertainment experience that is yet to be seen in Hungary.
Vibe Budapest will seamlessly blend the concepts of a restaurant and an entertainment venue, allowing patrons to enjoy live music and variety shows while savoring delectable meals. Gerendai is confident in the project’s success and believes it will be the foundation for his company group’s triumph.
The venue will feature a trendy concept that is popular worldwide but remains relatively untapped in Hungary. Guests can expect an array of excellent food and drinks, accompanied by a DJ, live music, dancers, and show elements throughout their dining experience. Although there will be no traditional dance floor, guests who feel inspired to dance between the tables will not be discouraged. Gerendai cites international chains such as Coya, Zuma, and Sushi Samba as examples of the atmosphere he aims to create.
To ensure the quality of the show elements, Gerendai and his team sought the expertise of the director of the Bogotá circus and variety show, who will conceptualize and choreograph the performances. The dancers and costumes will also be sourced from Colombia, adding an authentic flair to the experience.
Vibe Budapest will be located on the ground floor of the Roosevelt 7/8 office building, known as the “Spinach House.” The venue will accommodate 160 seated guests, and the investment for the project is estimated at 800 million forints. Gerendai is so confident in Vibe’s potential that he is basing his company group’s success on it, anticipating an annual turnover of 2 billion forints.
As Gerendai and his team expand their ventures abroad, they have brought on board Kornél Tóth-Harsányi, a manager and co-owner of the Costes group, to leverage his international connections. The Oceaya project, backed by an American investor, will involve the construction of a floating, modular restaurant and beach club that will operate in the Mediterranean during the summer and in Abu Dhabi or Dubai during the winter.
With the aim of making their business model self-sustaining, Gerendai has diversified his portfolio by taking over the management of Platán, Hungary’s only two-Michelin-starred restaurant outside Budapest, through a majority-owned subsidiary of the Costes group. Additionally, he is venturing into a cult canteen, a Balaton gastro enterprise, and a downtown bistro.
Vibe Budapest is poised to revolutionize the dining and entertainment scene in Hungary, offering a one-of-a-kind experience that combines the best of both worlds. With Gerendai’s vision and the expertise of his team, this innovative venue is set to become a must-visit destination for locals and tourists alike.
