Lumina Park Budapest 2026: Follow Alice to Wonderland on Margaret Island
Wonderland is coming to Budapest this autumn. From 20 October 2026, Lumina Park will transform the Palatinus Baths on Margaret Island into an illuminated world inspired by Alice in Wonderland. More than 200 light installations will bring the story to life along a 1.5-kilometre walking route, making this a fun after-dark outing for visitors looking to explore beyond the city’s usual sights.

- Location: Palatinus Baths, 1 Soó Rezső Promenade, Margaret Island, Budapest.
- Opening date: 20 October 2026. The season is expected to continue into March 2027.
- Opening hours: The park is open from 5:30 pm to 9 pm on 20–24 October. From 25 October, most listed opening days begin at 4:30 pm, with later start times towards the end of winter. Closing is generally at 9 pm, or 10 pm on selected holiday dates. Last admission is one hour before closing.
- Closed days: The park is generally closed on Mondays, except 28 December and 4 January. It is also closed on 1 November and 24 December.
- Tickets: Standard admission is HUF 5,000 Monday to Thursday and HUF 5,300 on Fridays, weekends and public holidays. Discounted tickets cost HUF 4,400 and HUF 4,700 respectively. Family tickets cost HUF 16,900 or HUF 17,900, and children under two enter free.
- Getting there: Take bus 26 to Margaret Island from Nyugati Railway Station or Göncz Árpád City Centre. Parking is available near the island’s northern tip, with the park reachable from there on foot or by bus.
- Before you go: Tickets are valid only for the date selected, so check the opening hours for that day before booking.
Take Your Time in Wonderland
The White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts are among the characters waiting along this year’s route. Rather than a single light display, Lumina Park is a walk-through experience: each stretch of the path reveals another scene, giving you plenty of reasons to pause and take a photo.

Allow at least two hours for the full 1.5-kilometre walk, especially if you want to enjoy the installations without rushing. The Alice in Wonderland theme also makes it an easy choice for families, while the island setting offers a change of pace from an evening in central Budapest.
An Autumn and Winter Evening Out
Lumina Park’s opening times shift with the season. In late October, the lights come on in the late afternoon; selected dates around Christmas and New Year stay open until 10 pm. The published schedule extends into early March, but it’s worth checking your chosen date before you set off, particularly around holidays.
You’ll find the entrance at the Palatinus Baths on Margaret Island. With bus 26 providing a straightforward route from both sides of the Danube, Wonderland is easy to add to a Budapest itinerary—even if you have just one free evening.
