Ikarus MiniFest Takes Passangers On a Nostalic Trip
Hey there, folks! If you’re a fan of iconic buses and nostalgic vibes, you won’t want to miss the Ikarus MiniFest happening in Budapest from August 23rd to 25th. The Hungarian Museum of Science, Technology and Transport is hosting this event for the fourth time, showcasing the world-famous Ikarus buses and artifacts.
You know what’s even cooler? You can reach the festival venue on Sunday using the nostalgic tram N36, specifically the one numbered 1233. And if you do so, your valid ticket for the tram will give you a sweet 20% discount on the museum’s temporary exhibition called “What are we going with? Energy mix in Transportation.”
The Ikarus MiniFest is bringing together the best pieces of Hungarian bus manufacturing, and it’s easily accessible by the nostalgic tram running between Keleti Railway Station and Kőbánya alsó Railway Station. Plus, nostalgic ticket holders get a discount on the museum’s upcoming temporary exhibition. How awesome is that?
The museum is going all out for the 125th anniversary, so you can visit the festival and the “What are we going with? Energy mix in Transportation” exhibition in the Diesel Hall at a super affordable price of just 125 forints. Talk about a steal!
Throughout the three-day event, you’ll get to see an impressive lineup of thirty iconic buses and rare artifacts from the museum’s collection. It’s a fantastic opportunity to dive into the world of urban transportation, routes, high-rise buildings, vehicles, and other unique objects.
The festival has a jam-packed program with vehicle displays, museum workshops, movie screenings, and even a children’s concert by Kiflihajó on Saturday. You can also hop on special Ikarus museum tours departing from the Northern Vehicle Repair Shop and join guided tours to get up close and personal with these legendary buses.
