Planet Lens Photo Exhibition at Keleti Railway Station

A hidden cultural gem inside Budapest’s historic train station
Until the end of February 2026, travelers arriving at or departing from Budapest Keleti Railway Station can enjoy a free and inspiring photography exhibition in the station’s impressive Lotz Hall. The Planet Lens exhibition, showcasing the most popular works from last year’s acclaimed project, turns this grand 19th-century space into a gallery that connects travel, culture, and art.
Visitors can experience the beauty and creativity of the Planet Lens images — a series that captures the relationship between humanity and nature through breathtaking visuals. The exhibition is open daily and free of charge, making it an ideal stop for tourists exploring the city or waiting for a train connection.
Starting from February 25, the Planet Lens photographs will also be featured at Planet Budapest in the Hungarian Railway History Park, where the exhibition will run until March 29. That event, too, will be free to enter.

Discover the Lotz Hall at Keleti Station
The exhibition venue itself is a work of art. Built in 1884, the Lotz Hall of Keleti Station is a stunning architectural treasure with a ceiling height of 18 meters and a floor space of 670 square meters. The hall is adorned with nine frescoes, eight painted by the renowned Hungarian artist Károly Lotz, and one created by Mór Than.
If you have a few minutes before your train departs, don’t miss the chance to peek into this cultural gem located on the Thököly Road side of the station. And after that, you can compare it with the Lotz Hall of the Párisi Department Store, another of Budapest’s iconic artistic landmarks.
For those seeking free art experiences in Budapest, this exhibition offers the perfect blend of history, architecture, and photography — right in the heart of the city’s main railway hub.
