Taste of Transylvania Arrives in Szentendre

Taste of Transylvania Festival Comes to Hungary for the First Time

This March, the flavors, aromas, and spirit of Transylvania are coming to Hungary for the very first time! From March 27–29, 2026, the picturesque Szentendre Open-Air Ethnographic Museum (Skanzen) will host the Taste of Transylvania Festival — a three-day celebration where food, culture, and tradition blend in the most delicious way possible.

Imagine strolling among charming wooden houses with the scent of freshly baked bread and grilled delicacies filling the air. The festival brings together top chefs from Hungary, Romania, and Transylvania, including Jenő Rácz, Kornél Kaszás, Szabi the Baker, and Alex Petricean, who will reinterpret authentic dishes inspired by Hungarian, Romanian, Saxon, Armenian, and Jewish culinary heritage.

One of the highlights is the Örömfőzde, an extraordinary live cooking event where traditional home cooks and Michelin-starred chefs join forces to show how the same ingredients can tell completely different stories. Visitors, of course, can taste the results!

But that’s not all — the music and cultural program will make this a true spring festival for everyone. Enjoy live concerts from 4S Street, Bagossy Brothers Company, and the beloved Alma Band for families. Cultural highlights also include book presentations, film screenings, and a vibrant craft and food market, perfect for picking up Easter treats while tasting your way through Transylvania.

Whether you’re a foodie, culture lover, or simply looking for a great weekend trip from Budapest, the Taste of Transylvania is your ticket to an unforgettable experience.
