The Musical Fountain of Margaret Island Is Back for 2026
Get ready, Budapest — one of the city’s most beloved free attractions is returning for another season! The iconic Musical Fountain of Margaret Island officially opens on May 1st, 2026, and runs through to October 31st, filling the island’s air with music, water, and light every single day.
Operating daily from 10:00 to 22:00, the fountain plays a brand-new hourly music programme that has something for absolutely everyone — from classical masterpieces and children’s favourites to rock anthems and chart-topping pop hits. Here’s a taste of what to expect throughout the day:
🎵 11:00 & 16:00 — Children’s Music Block — Perfect for little ones, with beloved cartoon and children’s songs to delight the whole family.

🎻 12:00 — Classical Hour — Bizet’s Carmen Habanera, Brahms’ Hungarian Dances, Liszt’s Liebestraum, and Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.

🎼 14:00 — Vienna & Vivaldi — The Four Seasons, Radetzky March, and the Blue Danube Waltz.

The fountain is completely free to visit, and Margaret Island itself is a stunning, car-free green escape in the middle of the Danube. Getting there is easy — hop on tram 4 or 6 to Margaret Bridge, or take bus 26 directly onto the island.
