Exciting News for Budapest Commuters!
Hey there, fellow travelers! If you’re a regular user of public transportation, we’ve got some great updates for you. The BudapestGO app has just gotten even better, making your commute a breeze.
First off, for all you newbies out there, don’t worry – the app is super easy to navigate. And for you seasoned BudapestGO pros, there are some cool new features that’ll make your experience even smoother.
When you purchase tickets or passes, you’ll now see the most important info you need to use them right at the top of the screen. No more wondering how or when to validate your ticket – it’s all right there!
Planning your route just got a whole lot easier, too. The app now saves your previous searches, so you can quickly access the places you’ve looked up before, your specific travel plans, and even the routes you’ve selected in the past. Talk about convenient!
Oh, and if you don’t have automatic updates set up on your phone, make sure to manually update the BudapestGO app to get all these awesome new features.
But wait, there’s more! The BKK (Budapest Transport Company) is looking into expanding the Pay&GO payment service to cover all of Budapest. They’ve already started the process with a public market consultation, and they’re exploring the possibility of further developing and fully extending the Pay&GO system.
In case you haven’t heard, Pay&GO is a digital payment service that was introduced a year ago, and it’s been a huge hit. Since its launch, over 1 million tickets have been purchased through the system. It’s the quickest and easiest way to buy tickets in the city.
The goal is for BKK to work with potential supplier partners to make the most informed decision about how to shape this planned service. They want to make sure it meets the needs of as many customers as possible, whether you’re a regular commuter or just an occasional passenger.
Implementing a complex electronic system like this takes time, though. BKK estimates that the expanded Pay&GO payment solution won’t be available on additional lines until the second half of 2026 at the earliest.
Still, the Pay&GO system has already proven to be super popular. Get this – every second Pay&GO purchase is made with a smart device! And 93% of Pay&GO users typically buy a maximum of two tickets at a time.
So there you have it, folks – some exciting updates to make your Budapest commute even better. Keep an eye out for more news on the Pay&GO expansion, and in the meantime, enjoy all the cool new features in the BudapestGO app!
