Changes on Metro Line 1
Hey there, Budapest commuters! Get ready for some changes in your weekend travel plans. The city’s public transportation system is undergoing some important maintenance work, and it’s going to affect the M1 metro line.
Here’s what you need to know: on the weekends of September 7-8 and 14-15, the M1 metro will only be running between Vörösmarty tér and Oktogon. If you’re planning to travel beyond Oktogon, don’t worry – there will be replacement buses (M1 bus) to take you the rest of the way to Mexikói út.
To catch the replacement bus at Oktogon, head to the designated stop on Andrássy út on the side towards Hősök tere, near Eötvös utca. If you’re starting your journey at Mexikói út, you’ll find the bus stop right across from the metro exit.
The replacement buses will be making stops along the way, too. On Andrássy út, they’ll be using the same stops as the 979 night bus. At Heroes’ Square, towards Mexikói út, look for the 105 bus stop on Dózsa György út. And at Széchenyi Bath, the buses will be stopping at the 72 trolleybus stop in both directions.
But wait, there’s more! If you’re looking for alternative routes, you’ve got options. The 105 and 210B buses can take you between Hősök tere and Deák Ferenc tér, while the 5 bus runs between Erzsébet királyné útja (underpass) and Ferenciek tere.
So, while it might take a little extra planning, you can still get where you need to go this weekend. Just remember to check the schedules, look out for the replacement buses, and maybe explore a new route or two. Happy commuting, Budapest!
