On February 10, 2026, the Capital Circus of Budapest (Fővárosi Nagycirkusz) and the Budapest Operetta Theatre (Budapesti Operettszínház) join forces for a one-night-only gala performance titled Csillagok találkozása – Meeting of the Stars. This extraordinary show promises an artistic spectacle that blends the elegance of musical theatre with the breathtaking world of international circus artistry.
What to expect
During the gala, renowned performers from the Budapest Operetta Theatre — including Mónika Fischl, Veronika Nádasi, Zsolt Homonnay, Zoltán Kiss, Péter Sándor, György Szomor, and Balázs Tassonyi — share the stage with world-class circus artists from across the globe. Expect thrilling performances from the Duo Aerial DNA (Israel), Duo Sabawian (Ethiopia), Flying Tabares (Argentina–USA), Kelly Folco (Italy), Thomas Lacey (UK), and Hungary’s own Duo Kriko.
The program features excerpts from classical and modern masterpieces such as Carmen, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, The Count of Monte Cristo, and Jekyll & Hyde. Operetta lovers will also enjoy highlights from The Circus Princess and The Csárdás Queen, all interwoven with dazzling circus acts from Which of the Nine? and Mother Holle.

The gala is hosted by Balázs Tassonyi, with the choir, ballet, and orchestra of the Budapest Operetta Theatre conducted by Zsolt Tassonyi. The ensembles of the Capital Circus — musicians, dancers, and acrobats — also contribute to the magical atmosphere, under the direction of László Szakál. The event is choreographed by Kitty Fejes and István Simon, produced by Zoltán Csicsely, and directed by Zsolt Homonnay.
