The Biggest Fireworks Show of the Year Is Coming on 20th August!
Get ready, Budapest, because this year’s national holiday celebration is going to be a blast! The organizers are promising the biggest and most spectacular fireworks show in all of Europe on August 20th, 2024. It’s gonna be a party like no other!
From August 17th to 20th, there will be hundreds of programs spread across nineteen locations for everyone to enjoy during the celebration of the founding of the state by King St. Stephen. This event isn’t just about commemorating the founding of Hungary; it’s a full-blown festival that showcases the country’s prestige.
Safety is a top priority, and the organizers have been working hard since June to ensure that everyone can have a great time without any worries. Zoltán Kovács, the Secretary of State for International Communication and Relations, emphasized that the safety of the Hungarian people is their utmost concern, and they have all the necessary technology and personnel to make it happen.
Now, let’s talk about the main event – the fireworks! Tóth Ferenc, the managing director of NUVU Kft., the company responsible for the August 20th fireworks, revealed that this year’s 30-minute show will feature over 45,000 pyrotechnic effects launched from the Liberty, Elizabeth, and Margaret Bridges, as well as nine barges and numerous pontoons. That’s right, they’re going all out!
But wait, there’s more! This year, they’ve extended the fireworks viewing area to a whopping five-kilometer stretch from the Petőfi Bridge to the lower third of Margaret Island. No matter where you are along this route, you’ll have an amazing view of the show.
The artistic concept for this year’s fireworks was created by Árpád Iványi and Barnabás Réti, with the visual design by Anikó Seres and the musical accompaniment composed by Norbert Elek based on folk songs. The performance will consist of seven acts, all connected by a magical historical audio play.
But the fireworks aren’t the only thing to look forward to during this celebration. There will be plenty of other events and activities for everyone to enjoy, from gastronomy festivals to musical performances and even a fashion and design festival.
So, mark your calendars and get ready to celebrate Hungary’s birthday in style! With the biggest fireworks show in Europe and a ton of other exciting events, this year’s national holiday is shaping up to be an unforgettable experience. See you there!
