Hungary’s New Accommodation Rating System: What Tourists Need to Know

How Does It Work?
The process begins with an internal self-assessment conducted by the accommodation provider. This is followed by an on-site inspection carried out by professionals from the certification body. Once these steps are completed, a joint decision is made by the Evaluation Committee and Review Board to assign the final star rating.
The rating isn’t just a one-time achievement—it’s valid for three years. During this period, accommodations must continuously meet the standards required for their assigned category. To ensure compliance, unannounced inspections may occur at any time.
