Chairlifts' Night in Budapest - A Unique Summer Experience

On July 13th, 2024, Budapest will host the 9th annual Chairlifts’ Night, a highly anticipated summer event that attracts visitors from all over the country. This year, foreign tourists visiting Hungary have the unique opportunity to experience the magic of this event and enjoy breathtaking views of the illuminated city from above.

The event will take place at the Zugliget Chairlift, Hungary’s first passenger ropeway, which reopened two months ago after an extensive technical renovation. The chairlift is 1,040 meters long, with a 262-meter elevation difference between its two stations. Riding the chairlift uphill takes you close to Budapest’s highest point, János Hill, while the downhill journey offers a unique view of the European metropolis.

During Chairlifts’ Night, the Zugliget Chairlift will operate in a special night mode from 5:00 PM until 1:00 AM, with the last uphill ride departing at 12:30 AM. The excitement of traveling at night, combined with the stunning view of the illuminated city, promises an unforgettable experience for all visitors.

To participate in the event, visitors must purchase a special return ticket for 5,000 HUF (approximately 14 EUR). As tickets are limited, it is recommended to purchase them in advance at the Underground Railway Museum located in the Deák Ferenc Square metro underpass. The museum is open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM every day, except Mondays, and only accepts cash payments. Please note that child and student tickets are not available for this event, and children under the age of 3 can ride for free.

For those who love chairlifts, the first 100 buyers with a Chairlift Loyalty Card can enjoy a 50% discount on their ticket to the 9th Chairlifts’ Night. The card can be purchased for a one-time fee of 6,000 HUF (approximately 17 EUR) for adults and 3,000 HUF (approximately 8 EUR) for students.

To reach the Zugliget Chairlift, visitors can take the 291 bus from Nyugati Railway Station or the R158 retro bus from Széll Kálmán Square. Parking is limited at the venue, so please pay attention to road signs.

Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the magic of Budapest at night from the unique perspective of the Zugliget Chairlift during the 9th annual Chairlifts’ Night on July 13th, 2024.
